Today, we have joined the Youth Chapter Collective, a collective of more than 150 organisations working to end youth homelessness, in writing to the Chancellor urging her to end the trap in the benefits system that’s unfairly punishing thousands of young people in supported housing.
More than 30,000 young people in supported housing are estimated to be impacted by this cruel quirk in the benefits system, blocking their ambition and ability to work more hours.
A benefit system that disincentivises work and hinders ambition is a broken system.
